Jan Valentin Saether has always been occupied with the portrait, the art of capturing and representing the individual human being portrayed. Seeing Rembrandt's self portrait as the Apostle Paul in his late teens, made a lasting impression, and to this day a challenge that pushes him forward, making him one of our finest portrait artists today. He makes portaits both as sculpture, paintings, and sometimes drawings, and is frequently used both in Norway and the US.
